. there are already some showers down along the coast. that will continue to push eastward and give us a chance of showers. temperatures are in the 50's. on our way to 87 this afternoon for a high at -- for a high temperature. maybe up to point to 5 inches of rain. >> we have an accident out there that is closing a stretch of marlboro pike between brooks drive and a road. let's go to springfield and we will show you that in '95 is in fairly good shape. there is some southbound construction. a bunch of construction of the virginia stretch of the beltway. that should all be cleared out very shortly. back to you. >> we began with breaking news. three people died in a collision between an suv and then ambulance. the suv was traveling eastbound when it hit the ambulance and flipped over. three men were in the ambulance. they were pronounced dead at the same. authorities say it does not appear they were injured. investigators are trying to determine how the crash happened. >> now to our other top story of the morning, the race for mayor. >> we are joined now with more of what reed is saying about the

down. good morning, washington. tds friday morning. i'm glad you could join us today. we're arrive in ocean city, maryland with a check on conditions but we begin with a quick check on traffic and weather and start to the holiday weekend. >> let me tell you, a really nice afternoon on the way or looking forward to across most of the area, however, the further east you go, that is going to run into the bigger problems. adam will have more on that in just a few minutes. temperatures a very comfortable start. 73 in fairfax. martinsburg looking at 77. there is the hurricane creeping up on the right hand side of your screen but a cold front, a strong cold front arrived later on today and that's going to bring much cooler temperatures for the upcoming holiday weekend. breezy and hot once again. near 90 degrees for a daytime high. the high temperatures come tomorrow. let's head over to lisa live in the traffic center. it is a good run this morning. construction already complete in triangle. northbound traffic is good. southbound in virginia there is a minor crash on the left side with tra

. thanks for joining us. i am alison starling. >> i am greta kreuz. we begin with traffic and weather every ten minutes. we start with adam caskey. another gorgeous day on tap. >> a couple degrees cooler than yesterday. average for this time of year. 4:30 and 60 degrees and winds and, 54 incumbents, 61 in fredericksburg, 61 in waldorf. -not as cool as the past couple morning's. 68 degrees in the district. 82 degrees for a high- temperature, mostly sunny. a little breezy. northwesterly winds at 10-20 with higher gusts. tomorrow will be similar. high temperatures nadean with a lot of sunshine. we are looking at a fairly dry workweek. we could use some showers. now lisa baden. >>> not much happening. there are a couple of work zones, but nothing that will cause you a lot of time. no major accidents. looking good to the airports. all clear. 270 at father hurley boulevard is a good example. sali on 270 through germantown to give to dave norrisvdavidsbes good. route 50 across the bay bridge looks fine. looks good on the beltway near andrews air force base. back to you. >> thank you. >>> it is pri

been reported stolen. police also telling us that the two teens will be charged as adults. >> all right turks very much. in the meantime this morning, a 1-year-old is suffering from life threatening injuries after a car crash in prince george ears county. -- georges county. the car that the child was riding in hit a tree. four other people suffered minor injuries and are recovering now at local hospitals. there is no word on what caused that crash. the doctor who survived this month's deadly shooting at johns hopkins hospital is back home. dr. david cohen was leased about 6:00 last night. he was shot by paul pardus after he delivered bad news about pardus' mother's medical condition. president obama spent the night in new mexico. this is the first stop on his four-state tour. he focused on his economic agenda in the coming days the president will also travel to wisconsin and iowa before wrapping things up in virginia. meanwhile, there is a new book that takes us inside the white house as president obama and his aides plot a new course for the war in afghanistan. it goes on sale today. >

. >> thank you so much for being here with us. more on that story in just a moment but we begin with your traffic and weather. every 10 minutes. we have big issues on the beltway already. we're going to talk to them about that. first here is adam. >> we got some berble -- beneficial rain yesterday. a few downpours toward the tail-end of the rain event helped up accumulation in just a few spots. over half an inch in martinsburg. my rain gauge, only .4. 83 the high temperature. gradual clearing this morning becoming mostly sunny. belt way issues, huh, tim? >> that's right. we had an accident that occurred last night. the beltway is still closed. you can see the flashing lights up toward the upper right corner of your screen. even is diverted off the outer loop of connecticut avenue. if you goout, take that over to wisconsin avenue go and back to the beltway from there. if you line up from the left, on to the outer loop if, you need to get to 270, you need to go through bethesda to old georgetown road. a loft question overnight did not happen because of the weather. the interloop, 236 constr
